Biography

Bob was born in Michigan, but has lived in Missouri most of his life.

Bob started singing at an early age with his family. His dad started him on the guitar at the age on seven. In later years while living in Strafford Missouri, his family held church services at the 76 truck stop, before attending their own local church. This was a real blessing for Bob to be in this type of setting – “It was awesome to hear men share their experience with Christ and to see some come to know Jesus as their Savior.”

In 1971 the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1972 Bob and Yvonna were married – “She is the best gift that God has ever blessed me with.” In 1976 Bob and Yvonna were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Stacey Leigh and again in 1978 with the birth of their son, Robert Dean. They have three granddaughters and two grandsons. Bob emphasizes what a tremendous gift from God it is to have his family.

In 1981 the Smiths moved from Kansas City to Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where they attended a Baptist church. This is where Bob came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Bob states, “I played church for several years. I had the head knowledge of Christ but I did not have the heart knowledge of knowing Him as my personal Lord and Savior.”

Bob has always had the desire to sing Gospel music. In 1984, Bob auditioned and sang with the first quartet, Canaan Land Quartet. In 1989 he joined the Fishers Of Men Quartet (later trio), were he sang for twenty years.

There was a dry period in Bob’s life where he wasn’t singing very much. During this time is when the Lord allowed him to cross paths with Danny Roberts. This was when Bob first heard of 4 His Love Music Ministry. Bob praises God that he brought Danny and he together to re-organize 4 His Love Music Ministries. As only said best in Bob’s own words, “We are being blessed as we travel and meet the people that God is allowing us to minister to. We thank God for the opportunity to serve Him through Gospel Music. The mission of 4 His Love is to see men, women, boys and girls, to come to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
